Tour de France- Week 2 Recap

2 Weeks and 16 Stages (including the Prologue) have passed and now it's crunch time in this year's Tour de France. The riders are finishing up their second rest day of the tour in Pau and will start the Pyrenees tomorrow. The Stage 16 is the big stage of this years tour with 4 Climbs including the Col d'Aubisque, Col du Tourmalet, Col d'Aspin & Col de Peyresourdes all leading to the finish at Bagneres-du-Luchon. Another stage in the mountain follows, then a flat stage, a time trial and a sprint stage featured on the Champs-Elysses in Paris. That's 5 stages, and right now Bradley Wiggins is in the lead overall by 2 minutes, 5 seconds over teammate Chris Froome. Another favorite Cadel Evans is 4th overall, over 3 minutes behind and he needs good results if he wants to contend for the win. In the Green Jersey competition, Peter Sagan leads Andre Griepel by 98 points and is a lock to win the points classification in Paris. Both Sagan and Griepel have a combined 6 wins, but Sagan was in the breakaway of Stage 14 and that helped greater his chances at a win. The King of the Mountains competition is still wide-open and with 2 mountain stages to go, it's anyone's game, including Thomas Voeckler, Pierre Rolland and Fredrik Kessiakoff. The Young Rider category features a duel between Tejay Van Garderen and Thibaut Pinot, one of those riders will win the White Jersey in Paris. 42 riders have abandoned so far, mostly due to injuries, while others like Sylvain Chavanel withdrew to focus on the Olympics. Remember, there are 5 stages left, so it will be exciting to see what happens, so get ready to watch!
