Auto Club 500 Recap

Second race of the year and I'm starting to think it's deja vu all over again. Jimmie Johnson wins a race and his 48th overall in the Auto Club 500 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. I've never been a fan of the track, even though it's a wide, 2-mile racetrack built on a former steel mill (same one as in the end of Terminator 2). The race itself was boring and almost found myself dozing off at times because of the tons of green-flag action and cars were far spread apart. The 250-lap race got exciting around the halfway point when Juan Pablo Montoya's engine blew. Montoya started 2nd and led 29 laps in the race until something broke and finished 37th. Then Ryan Newman hit the wall and had too much damage to repair. The restarts were very exciting (especially with 50 laps to go, when there were as many as 5 cars racing side by side). The ending was exciting when Kevin Harvick passed Johnson but got too aggressive and lost his chance and finished 2nd. The race was OK but could've been better. The Shelby American takes place next Sunday in Las Vegas. Should be a great race and I'm looking forward to it
