I went 5-3 for the 1st week of the NCAA Football season. Week 2 is upon us and there are some good games to look out for:
KEY GAMES
1) Penn State vs. Alabama- JoePa and the Nittany Lions travel to Tuscaloosa to face the #1-ranked Crimson Tide. PSU coming off a win against Youngstown State looks to get win #2, problem is that they are facing one of the toughest SEC teams, which is Alabama. They however are playing w/o RB Mark Ingram for the 2nd week in a row. Even though that's a huge loss, they however have Trent Richardson who was impressive in a blowout win last week against San Jose State. It could be a close game, but Alabama will pull away in the end.
2) Miami FL vs. Ohio State- A rematch that my college roommates wanted to see happen. I myself am a huge Buckeye fan who witnessed one of the greatest college FB games in my life and that was OSU beating the Hurricanes and winning the Fiesta Bowl (Champ Game at time) in January 2003. This is a rematch game and Miami looks to be an improved team from the last few years. However the Buckeyes are a championship team and continue to build up thanks to QB Terrelle Pryor. Like in the 2002-03 season, I'm taking the Buckeyes to repeat.
3) Florida State vs. Oklahoma- This is a big game with Jimbo Fisher's first big test as head coach of the Seminoles are they travel to Norman, OK to face the Sooners, who have a 31-game home win streak. FSU seems to be a good team, but I think Oklahoma has the game and continues the streak.
4) Oregon vs. Tennessee- Both teams are coming off blowout wins against their opponents with a 122-0 combined scoring between the teams. However this week will be different. The Ducks have a great rushing strategy and they will use that technique against the Vols, whose defense needs to step up to control the ground game. In my opinion, this game will be close, but I think Oregon will win on top thanks to a field goal.
5) Georgia vs. South Carolina- UGA coming off a big win against LA-Lafayette and will be playing without WR A.J. Green for 3 more games as he is suspended by the NCAA for selling his Independence Bowl jersey to an "agent". Georgia was able to run away with the win in week 1, but it will not be the same this week against the Gamecocks who in my opinion have improved from last year and could be a sleeper team. I'm taking Georgia.
