2010 IZOD IndyCar Series Preview

A few days ago, I previewed the upcoming Formula One season, now to my 2nd favorite racing series behind NASCAR...The IZOD IndyCar Series.

This is the first year that IndyCar has a sponsor that's sponsoring the series, which is a plus and provides a great image to the sport. At the end of last season, three drivers were in contention for a championship and it came down to the final pit stop and Dario Franchitti won the title over Scott Dixon & Ryan Briscoe.

Those three drivers, plus approx. 20 or so competitors will race the entire 17-race season on a mix of ovals like Indy & Kansas to road/street courses like Watkins Glen, St. Petersburg and Long Beach. The series goes through 4 countries and provides exciting finishes. We saw a few last year like at Kentucky and looking forward to seeing more this year. The series starts off on the streets of Sao Paulo next Sunday and ends in early October at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

It's definitely gonna be interesting to see what drivers could end the Penske/Ganassi dynasties in the series. Andretti Autosport Racing can be a contender with Tony Kanaan, Danica Patrick & Marco Andretti behind the wheels. However Penske drivers Helio Castroneves, Briscoe & Will Power will be a factor were dominant last year just like Ganassi's Dixon & Franchitti. It's definitely gonna be a fun road and I'm looking forward to it. I'm picking Briscoe to win the championship but hoping that Kanaan fares better this season as well.
