Well we got what we expected in NASCAR's first visit to Bristol this year: alot of beating and banging. There were alot of wrecks which took out a lot of contenders in the field, including Mark Martin, Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick. However in the front, Kurt Busch dominated the race, leading nearly 300 of 500 laps. The race came down to a late caution for debris which sent drivers to pit road for 2-tires or 4-tires. Race-winner Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart and others took 2 and in the end, the 48 took the checkered flag for his 3rd win this season and 50th overall.
With the exception of long cautions due to rain and wrecks, it was a good race with a lot of battles for position. It's a short race but it's a mental one as well due to the fact they are racing on a half-time, high banking track. Definitely had its moments during this race. After the end of the race, Kevin Harvick leads the standings by 1 point over Matt Kenseth, and 14 over Johnson. Stewart finished 2nd in the race and seats 5th in the standings.
Next week, the Cup and Trucks take on another short-track: this time it's low-banked and sharp turned, known as Martinsville Speedway and there are sure to be alot of spins, wrecks and more excitement. Definitely gonna be fun.
